The
present tense
There are four
kinds of the present tense, they are :
A.
The
simple present tense : S + V1 + O + P
B.
The
present continuous tense : S + AM/IS/ARE + veb-ing + O
C.
The
present perfect tense : S + HAVE/HAS + V3 + O
D.
The
present prefect continuous tense : S +
HAVE/HAS + BEEN + VERB-ING + O
A. The
simple present tense
We use the simple present tense for the actions that
we do everyday as a habit. We also use it for the general truth.
E.g. :
1.
Dina
always washes her face before going to restaurant
2.
Grandmother
always takes care her grandchild every time
3.
I
drink milk before going to school
4.
I
accept the challenge
5.
She
acts well in the drama
6.
He
agrees to her views
7.
I
buy vegetables from super market
8.
I
call him to play with me
9.
She
cleans her room everyday
10. Daddy comes home by evening
B. The
present continuous tense
We use this tense for the actions we are doing at the
present moment (now) the action is still in progress
E.g. :
1)
I
am studying accounting at school now
2)
Adi
is riping a newspaper now
3)
Fatimah
is washing her veil for this time
4)
They
are spending their holiday at bali now
5)
My
boyfriend is playing a game now
6)
My
brother is watching a movie on the tv now
7)
I
am managing my online business
8)
You
are taking a bath, please wait
9)
The
moon is shining
10) It is raining season
C. The
present perfect tense
We use this tense the actions that we do in the past
but the result can still be seen at present. Here we stress on the result o the
actions, and not the time of the activity.
E.g. :
1.
Ipin
has written a story on paper
2.
They
have eaten noodle
3.
I
have drunk the milk
4.
Ismail
has driven the bus
5.
Riko
has written a letter for her father
6.
I
have read a book
7.
Agung
has lived in palembang since 2000
8.
She
has cleaned this room
9.
Mila
has bought a laptop
10. Torik has played futsal
D. The
present perfect continuos tense
We use this tense
for the actions that begin in the past and still being continued up to now.we
usually use the words : since (sejak) or for (selama)
E.g. :
1)
I
have been sitting here since seven o’clock
2)
They
have been playing badminton for a long time
3)
Jamal
has been watching movie in the cinema since eight o’clock
4)
Sarif
has been smoking since 2010
5)
I
have been reading a holy ur’an for one month
6)
You
have been drinking juice for 3 hours
7)
Aji
has been living in madura since 1945
8)
Febrian
has been waiting rais for 2 hours
9)
Halimah
has been traveling for a week
10) My father has been working since morning
